Strip down to your bikini and board shorts to jump into chilly water in the middle of winter?
That’s just what more than 100 people did on New Year’s Day this year, and in their bravery raised $6,000 for the International Surfing Museum and the Lions Project Canine Companions for Independence.
It was a record year for participants who showed up for the Surf City Splash, which was held on the south side of the Huntington Beach Pier. Even though the skies were foggy, they showed up – and just as everyone hit the beach, the skies cleared and opened up for a beautiful beach day.
The event has plungers of all ages: from 84-year-old Hu Goldstein, to Shelby Anderson, who did the plunge in her mom’s womb last year.
Check out some of the fun and wild costumes that showed up for the event.
