If you’re looking for a new – but used – board to try this summer, check out the Harbour Surfboards annual Boardswap this Saturday in Seal Beach.
The event helps surfers clean out their quiver, sell or buy boards from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Come with cash, and most are priced under $500. If you have something you want to put up for sale, contact this number to get set up: (562) 430-5614.
CHECK OUT SOME PHOTOS OF A PAST BOARD SWAP:
The Seal Beach shop – started 50 years ago by Rich Harbour and one of the last surf shops with a shaping room in tact – holds the event twice a year.
It’s usually a lot more than just buying boards. They throw on the grill for some BBQ, usually have a few handouts like stickers or wax, and have some surf art out for display.
At one of the last Boardswap events I went to, there were a wide range of boards – everything from a $40 beaters, to a cherry Trestles Special going for $1,200.
The slots fill up quick, so make sure to sign your board up soon.
The address is 329 Main Street, Seal Beach.
