New snow at local mountains; crowds gone
January 3rd, 2011, 1:21 pm · · posted by Laylan Connelly, staff writer
It was a crazy few weeks at local snow resorts, with schools out and holiday crowds in full force.
But now that everyone has gone home, now is the perfect time to get some fresh pow with fewer crowds and less wait for the lifts.
Bear, Summit and Mountain High just received another fresh helping of snow, about 6 – 8 inches. You may need chains to get up there, so make sure you check the road reports before you head up. And remember, the main road up to Big Bear will be closed all season, so you have to take the back way to get up. Read more here.
Mid-week prices have dropped back down to $56 at Summit and Bear (weekends and holiday rates are $69); and Mountain High tickets are back down to $50, until the weekend when they go back up to $60.
Check out some snap from this morning at Bear Mountain. They are making me drool…

Wow, how killer is this?? We have Mammoth type skiing down here in So Cal!
Hey Joe,
It says 6-8 inches, not feet. Mammoth has had over 25 feet so far.
