World’s best surfers soon to take over Lower Trestles

In a little over a week, the world’s best surfers will be taking over one of the West Coast’s best surf breaks.
The 6th stop of the ASP World Championship Tour will be happening at Lower Trestles at San Onofre State Beach with the official waiting period getting underway on Sunday, September 12th.
The 2010 Hurley Pro will be the first event on the Dream Tour this year with 32 surfers and two event wildcards due to the new mid-year cutoff and ASP one-world ranking system.
Two Orange County surfers who made the cut from 45 surfers to 32 are San Clemente’s Pat Gudauskas and Brett Simpson from Huntington Beach. Look for both of these regular-footers to do some serious damage on the long peeling rights at Lowers.
The 2010 Hurley Pro is the only ASP WCT event on the mainland United States. If you can’t make it down to Lower Trestles to watch some amazing surfing up close and personal, then tune into the live webcast at hurley.com/hurleypro.
When: Sunday, September 12th through Saturday, September 18th
Where: Lower Trestles, San Onofre State Beach

Hi,
On Sept 12-18, but what time does it start? Till when? I’d like to know so that I can arrange to attend.
Many thanks,
Tien.
Hi Tien,
It all depends on the surf. The contest during that “waiting period” usually runs four of those days, with a call being made at about 7 a.m., so you usually don’t know for sure until that day.
Thank you so much, Laylan.
i’tll probably go down 16-18th. New S-SW around that time.
