San O shark video freaking surfers out

Sorry I’m a bit late on this one, I had the week off after the U.S. Open of Surfing madness and wanted to post this video for those of you who may have missed this insane underwater footage of an 8-foot shark chillin’ down at San O.
The video was shot by Chuck Patterson while he was on his Stand Up Paddleboard. He first saw a 9-footer, and then this cute little 8-foot shark curiously came up to check him out while he was standing on his 12-foot SUP.
There’s been talk for years about the two resident great whites down there – named Fluffy and Bumper – who have been spooking surfers for years.
OC Register’s Pat Brennan chatted with Patterson about the experience.
Anyone wanna go for a San O session?

thats SCARY
those sharks have been there for years, and have never attacked anyone, don’t start a media frenzy over this
Ha, I think you’re a bit late on that request, the sharks were all over the news last week .. but yes you are right, that’s why I noted the resident sharks that have been seen there for a long time.
I don’t think the two sharks spotted are necessarilly the sharks that have been in the area “for years.” For one thing, these were juveniles — if they were there for years, they probably should be bigger than 6-9 feet.
Also, who’s to say there are just two sharks in the waters? As the crazies say, “Just because you don’t see them, that doesn’t mean they aren’t there.”
On another note, our yearly surf trip to San-O is next month. Yikes!
And also, Surf Signs, how could you not think this was not newsworthy? There’s a reason why news outlets around the world carried this story. It’s interesting, and the video is amazing. A reporter would be worthless not to write about it.
their names are actually “sparky” and “fluffy.”
and yes it is totally logical to think that they could be the two juveniles that people have been seeing for years, as the name “juvenile” applies to a significant (up to 10 years) of a not quite mature sharks lifetime…
