Some of the southland’s top pro surfers will be gathering in Oceanside for the last and final stop of the 2010 Surf Ride Freedom Surf Series next weekend.  One person in the pro division will walk away with $10,000 for first and another 10 grand will go the overall points winner of that division.

It looks like Huntington Beach local Micah Byrne is holding down the lead in the Men’s Pro division before the Championships.  The regular footer has 2,639 points while HB ‘s Teddy Navarro is trailing behind with 1,816 points.

Some of the other notable names taking part in the Freedom Surf Series will include:  former ASP World Championship Tour surfer Timmy Reyes, Hawaii’s Jesse Merle-Jones, Seal Beach’s Chris Waring and Brad Ettinger from Huntington Beach.

The two-day competition also has several amateur divisions including:  Open Men’s, Junior’s, Master’s, Youth, Super Grom and Open Women’s.  All amateur finalists will take home some cash and prizes at next weekends Championships.  For more info. and heat times, check out surfride.com.
